A REMARKABLE FAMILY GATHERING
A remarkable Thanksgiving gathering took place in York, Maine, at the residence of Daniel McIntyre, Esq. Four generations were present. The venerable grandfather is eighty-two years of age, and what is remarkable, weighs but seventy two pounds, with not even a grey hair intermixed with his black locks of whiskers.
He carries on his farm in person, last summer woked with his hands mowing in the field, and now performs all the duties connected with the care of two yoke of oxen, five cows, one hundred sheep, Xc, assisted only by a young lad. He reads his newspaper regularly without spectacles.
His bigger and better half is hale and hearty, weighing 225 pounds. THey have had twelve children, eleven of them being alive; ten of whom were present at the Thanksgiving feast, one not having quite reached his growth measuring six feet three inches while standing in stockings, with lots of grand children to make grand-mother's goodies disappear somewhat rapidly. POLICE COURT Thursday Dec. 14
Francis Douglas was arraigned for stealing a hand sled from Lucius R. Holt, pleaded not guilty, and produced his daughter Ida Douglas, as evidence that she took the sled, it being found in his house, when she was convicted of the larceny and fined $2 and costs amounting in all to $14, a rather big price for one sled. She will probably patronize the store next time.
