SIMSBURY - Mrs. Priscilla Case, who died last week, was a native of Vermont, but resided in this town as early as 1833, where her husband, Dr. A.R. Case, was a practising physician. About 1844 they removed to Brooklyn, N.Y. and later to Forestville, where her husband died. A few years ago she removed from this place. Her funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon in the Congregational Church, the Rev. A.L. Clark officiating, assisted by the Rev. Horace Winslow.

CANTON - Mrs. Sisson, widow of the late A. B. Sisson, of Busby Hill, just over the eastern border, died July 5, aged over 80 years. This makes the third death of aged heads of families, in that school district, within about three weeks.
There was a heavy thunder shower July 5 and the rain was much needed, especially for potatoes, which had begun to suffer. The roads across the hills were washed out so much that they are now quite rough.

OLD SAYBROOK
F. J. Hammond and J. J. Bushnell of Deep River and W. C. Booth of New Haven were in town Sunday.
A. J. Shailer swallowed a part of a set of teeth Saturday night. Dr. Grannis took him to New Haven, and word has been received that they were taken out all right.
D. M. Holmes has recently erected a large flag pole near his store.
The Rev. Mr. Pardee has entered upon his duties at Grace Church under favorable auspices, and is much liked by his congregation.

TERRYVILLE
Principal H. M. Adams, of the Canaan High school and wife are spending this week with their brother, A. J. Adams.
The "Leather man" passed through this town a week ago Sunday laboring under the beat of the sun and the encumbrance of his leather armor. The last dates of his passage are February 1, March 10, April 19, May 25 and July 1.

SUICIDE AT MERIDEN
Frederick Harkin, a German well known in Meriden, committed suicide on Sunday. He has suffered greatly from chronic rheumatism, and his dispondency arising from his illness seem to have been the cause of his suicide.

In General
Samuel H. Bishop died at his home in New Haven, aged 79. He was for many years a carriage manufacturer and was a man well known and highly established.

NEWINGTON - William Hubbard, aged 76, died on Sunday afternoon. He was run over by a wagon loaded with hay on Friday last, and four of his ribs were broken and his shoulder dislocated. The shock to his nervous system, and perhaps internal injury, combined with his advanced age, caused his death before many of his townsmen had heard of the accident. He had lived in Newington , at the center, almost from birth. He had a bright and original mind and excellent judgment, had always been a hard working man in his business, and had acquired considerable property. His long familiar figure will be greatly missed. He leaves a widow and three sons.

Charles E. Welles of New York city spent Sunday with his father.
Mrs. William Seymour is also visiting at home.
Mrs. Elford Eddy is spending a few weeks at her father's with her little son.
Mr. James Kirkham of Springfield spent Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Tracy

PORTLAND
A Bad Account of Rowdyism in the Place
Portland is getting to be extremely hazardous of late. Reveling parties travel the streets late at night, firing off guns and pistols. Saturday night complaints came from several streets of fighting and shooting. One person was stabbed in the hand. A wealthy estate owner says he has a gun and buckshot lately bought and if the night travelers don't keep off his grounds somebody may get killed in the future. One drunken fellow lay for hours Saturday on Marlborough street, sleeping off his liquor, and such scenes are no uncommon. No arrests are made.

SOMERS
Artist H. J. Shaws has executed a crayon portrait for President Seelye of Amherst College. He is now making one of Lieutenant Baker for the Baker G.A. post in Northampton.

A Big Sturgeon
Calvin Havens of Moodus caugth a sturgeon in the Connecticut river Saturday night measuring eight feet and nine inches. The fish was shipped to New York Monday.

Mr. Horace C. Wilcox of Meriden returned on Sunday from his tour of Europe.
Senator Doolittle of Meriden has arrived at Liverpool. He is to spend a short time in Europe.

In General
Edmund Cahn a New Haven printer, has disappeared, leaving his family destitute. He is accused of having taken with him something over $100 that belonged to the Trades council.
