RECENT DEATHS
Mrs. Abigail Freeman.
Mrs. Abigail Freeman Richardson died at her home in Mansfield Monday, aged 75.
She was native of Mansfield, a daughter of the late Hon. Edmund Freeman. She first married Dr. Simock, who was killed at the terrible Norwalk disaster several years ago. She afterwards married Dr. William H. Richardson, who died in December 1878. She was much respected and beloved. She never possessed robust health and has been ill for several years, and a short time ago became totally blind. She leaves one son and severeal brothers and sisters. The funeral occurs today.
John F. Bartlett
John H. Bartlett, a well known resident of Bridgeport, dropped dead Tuesday night while on the street. The medical examiner pronounced death due to heart disease. Mr. Bartlett was almost a lifelong resident of Bridgeport. For many years he was on the police force and a member of the old volunteer fire department. In 1849 Mr. Bartlett was one of the first to tleave for California, where gold fever was raging. He remained West only a short time. He was a veteran of the late war. having joined Company D, Seventeenth Regiment, C.V., in the beginning of the struggle, and serving actively until he was wounded at Chancellorville. He was then assigned to the reserve corps, where he remained until peace was restored. For thirty years he was employed as supervisor of the Housatonic road, but a few years ago he severed his connection with that corporation. He leaves four daughters, one of whom is Mrs. W.H. Hart of Falls Village, and two sons, E. L. and Attorney F. A. Bartlett, both of Bridgeport.
BOY KILLED BY TRAIN
The accident at Wallingford - Parents came from Southington.
Charles Fox, 12 years old, was killed by the noon express today. He was running across the grade crossing at Parker street and did not notice the train. His body was horribly mangled. His parents have recently moved here from Southington. There is no guard at the crossing.
