NOVELS Historical Fiction centered on Prince Rupert

CAVALIER's WOMAN first published in 1977 under the nom de plume Joan Hunter-- My first introduction to Jeanne's fiction - Introduced me into a wonderful historical fiction world which I have never left. Tells the story of Prince Rupert's fictional lover. The book is historically accurate - the characters are so real that you fall in love (or hate) with each and every one of them. This paperback is very hard to find.
Publishers notes - "He was a hot-tempered, arrogant Cavalier, the most favored of the king's generals, a brilliant tactician and a royal prince. His love seemed far beyond Venetia's reach. Yet she knew from the first moment she saw him that he must be hers--and hers alone.
Bloody civil war, political intrigue, and jealous hatred separated them and kept them from happiness, but Venetia would risk anything--her family, her honor, even her life--to be his lover. She was ready to follow him to hell itself.

LADY CAVALIER Young, wilful Lady Verity Raynham suddenly finds her life in turmoil as the Civil War erupts. Her long-planned betrothal to Matthew Whitworth is forbidden when his support of King Charles 1's enemies, the Parliamentarians, is revealed. Then, reluctantly, Verity must stay at Linwood Grange as he brothers ride off to join the Royalist army. But when the family jhome is captured by the vengeful Whitworth, Verity escapes in a daring flight for help. Enlisted as a Royalist spy, Verity dons the guise of a young soldier, revelling in the chance to prove her fencing skills. And when Rorke Markenville, the darkly handsome comrade of Prince Rupert, is captured by Whitworth, Verity takes on the task of rescuing him. For despite the cavalier's arrogance and suspicion of Verity, she cannot deny the powerful emotions he evokes in her. Romantic and fast-moving, LADY CAVALIER skilfully reawakens all the dangers and excitements of the English Civil War.

LADY CAVALIER RIDES OUT. The year is 1644 and the English Civil War rages on. The Roundheads go from strength to strength.but the Royalist cause is not yet lost for Verity Raynham, the valiant Lady Cavalier. She has experienced her first taste of battle and is now no stranger to espionage, adventure and danger. Entrusted with another dangerous assignment, Verity finds herself once again in direct conflict with her arch enemy, Matthew Whitworth. Jealous and maddened, he will stop at nothing to redress his wounded pride and Verity becomes trapped in an elaborate game of subterfuge and deceit.
